Religious Leader: And now a reading from the book of psalms...
Thatababy: Bwah wah nah rawrrrrrr wee wah plah gah! What about making a joyful noise unto the lord?
we had a priest in our parish who would stop right in the middle of the mass if a child made any noise at all. he’d wait until the parent had removed said child from the church before he started up again. extremely annoying and childish (from both, i always thought)
when i was younger, during service a kid about 7 was tracing the wallpaper with her finger. the minister said over the microphone “stop that little girl from drawing on the wall”. embarassed the mother to no end. after the service was over she told him her daughter didnt have a crayon, she was just using her finger and he refused to apologize. smh
Bishops of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are voluntary (not professional) ministers. Anyway, when Iived in Port Angeles, WA where Dad was bishop of the P.A. 1st Ward (LDS call their “parishes” wards), my older brother would be with him and I would be with Mom the organist on one Sunday and then we’d switch the next week… of course as long as we didn’t misbehave.
Just like any profession there are good ’uns and bad ’uns. Hard not to chortle at a kid making happy noises, remember when YOU had a case of the giggles at the most inappropriate time?!

yyyguy and miss_p both had experiences of the priest or pastor being egotistical idiots.
