Mom had to pry me out of bed on school mornings, but on Saturday mornings, I was up before she was. I always thought a worm was a worm…..but not on Saturdays, I guess.
The difference between Worms on weekdays and Worms on weekends is that on weekdays Worms mean Biology classes, disection, reports…… and on weekends Worms mean Fishing, fresh air, laying around in the sun…… Calvin is right :)
“The early bird gets the worm”-And the early worm gets to be bird breakfast! Considering Calvin is the worm and Moe is the bird, I’d suggest sleeping in a bit longer!!
@hippogriff (from yesterday),Your comment was cornea than mine. It wasn’t vitreous humor, or vitriolic humor, either. In fact, it lens to a chuckle or two. Iris everyone was an apt pupil of puns as you are.BTW, we’re still in context with the comic today, since Calvin is reading an eye chart in his dream.
I’m reminded of Jimmy Stewart’s ice fishing joke on the Johnny Carson Tonight show. “You gotta keep the worms warm!” Absolutely the funniest joke I’ve ever heard, but only because of the way Stewart told it.
My old grandpaw used to say, “The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese, and who even wants an old worm anyhow? I like cheese.”

The thing is that the early bird really DOES get the worm. You just have to pick your own worm.
