“Canon” was a TV series in the seventies, starring the mightily obese William Conrad. I suppose that’s who is referenced. I’ve learned that I have to parse every line in this cartoon if I want to get out everything Julie puts into it.
The “Canon” and “Olsen Twins” references are especially funny today. As for the popcorn comment…. I have been around folks who are notorious for making as much noise with their snacks as posible (especially the crinkling of potato chip bags)… but for average people the noise of AVERAGE people consuming snacks should not be a distraction. I am hoping Julie is not suggesting ALL snack eating at a movie theater is wrong…. only that the excessively noisy method employed by the Penny crew is not polite or appropriate.
Watching Harry Potter 2……… with a guy across the isle…… eating popcorn…. when ever he was not caughing……… Was it Burl…….??? The theater is not blamless…. as the bags they put pop corn in…… are the noisy kind……….
Aren’t those “human threshers” the Pennys usually wearing cowbells? Their seats better be well cushioned- and filtered!One thing about Cannon- the man had girth but somehow always caught his man- usually after a brief foot chase…
What I don’t get is, what is so shocking about eating popcorn in a movie theater? I think they’ve been selling it in theaters for just that purpose for the last one or two or 90 years.

Nothing like the rustling and crunching of popcorn and chips in a theatre. Too bad the Pennys don’t get it.
