Calvin: Mild-mannered Calvin is stuck inside doing math problems on a beautiful Sunday. No one is watching! He dashes into his closet! This is a job for... Stupendous Man! Defender of Freedom! Advocate of liberty! A bright crimson streak blast up through the atmosphere. And then turns back toward Earth! Gaining stupendous momentum, Stupendous Man strikes the ground at an acute angle with supendous force! The Earth slowly stops rotating...and begins to turn in the opposite direction! Pushing with all his might Stupendous Man turns the planet all the way around backward! The sun sets in the East and rises in the West! Soon it's 10 A.M. the previous day! Mom: What are you doing outside? Did you finish your homework already? Calvin: It's Saturday! I don't need to do it until tomorrow...thanks to Stupendous Man!

Stupendous Man would continue to fight crime up until his untimely and rather pointless death in Countdown. Then in Final Crisis the title was given to his long time love interest and rival Susan Durkens who became known as Stupendous Woman.
In the New 52 they returned to the original Stupendous Man but turned him into an angsty teenager and had no real character development. He was also grabbed by Harvest and forced to participate in the Culling, which was also stupid.
After fan outcry in Rebirth he was returned to his original form, with Stupendous Woman also making her first appearances since she was written out of the comics in the New 52. He’s recently starred in a crossover with the Teen Titans.
And if you know what any of this means, you are just as big a nerd as I am.
