11-year-old Supatra Sasuphan of Bangkok, Thailand, is one of the hairiest people on earth- she has Hypertrichosis, better known as the werewolf syndrome! The wrists and thumbs of Gibbons have ball and socket joints allowing them to swing quickly from branch to branch, making them one of the fastest tree dwelling animals! In 1943- the US one cent coin minted with zinc plated steel because of the need for copper and war equipment.

Haven’t seen or thought about steel pennies for a long time.Things like this are one of the many I love about this strip.

Nobody can say that pennies aren’t worth a plugged nickel.BTW, if you dropped a penny into the sewer, do you think you could pick up the s(cent)?

Be glad the 1943s are generally out of circulation. They could too easily be mistaken for a dime. Also, to save materials, Ill 1948(?) license plates were fiber. Unfortunately, goats loved them!

I rarely use coins (or paper money) anymore. Cash has been replaced by plastic. It costs more to mint coins than they are worth. Cash is like the rotary dial phone.
