Short version, “reticulum” is Latin for “little net”, and can refer to anything in a patterned or networked structure, as well as the more specific usages related to biology. (It’s also the name of an obscure constellation in the southern night sky.) And who said the funnies aren’t educational? :)

My favorite baffle used to be “too much linear distortion in the downward modulation peaks.” The term “grid leak” was used in the signal corps much the same way “prop wash” was in the Air Force, ie send a new guy to central supply for five gallons of prop wash!
