10 min / 60 = 0.1667 hours
s = t x Vm
s = 0.1667 hours x 60 mph = 10 miles (Jack)
s = 0.1667 hours x 30 mph = 5 miles (Joe)
s = 10 miles + 5 miles = 15 miles (from each other in the beginning)
An easy formula but I’m doing this in introduction to physics and chemistry in high school, I don’t think this is very fair to first graders :/

the total speed is 90 mph (60 + 30)there are 60 min in an hour
so its 90 m / 60 min
to cancel out the minutes and get miles, you multiply 10 minthat gives you 15 miles
