Rocket Shootin' Day Handy Rule #35 Uh-oh. Did you see where it went? Daddy? Where's my rocket? We have to find it! Guys.. Did that airplane just swerve? If it's not down in another ten minutes, how do we go up after it? Use the correct-size engines.

There’s nothing to worry about. It’s probably going to achieve escape velocity. The space station is another matter.

I’d ready a rescue rocket to waylay the wayward one.

There were a few times that overly powerful engines were used in our scouts’ rockets. Sometimes unwittingly. Frankly, underpowered rockets can be just as entertaining, but not for as long. We shot a tiny little thing called a Scout II (supposed to use an A-3 engine, I think) with an A12 engine- we’re STILL waiting for that thing to come down after four years. This year, my youngest lost a rocket rated for B engines, and ‘cause Dad didn’t check carefully, it went up with a C engine. Most impressive.

It doesn’t rhyme, but the way it always seems to work for Pack 13 is “I shot a rocket into the air… where it lands we cannot find.” Tomorrows cartoon is about one landing where we didn’t want to go claim it. Hope you’ll enjoy it.

I say go with whatever engine fits the fuselage.

Over zealous rockets need messages tied to them since you apparently don’t know where they are going to land. Nothing fancy, just something like “help! I’m being forced to set off rockets by my scout leader!”
