I live in a town of 300,000 people. I went to grade and high school with the guy next door to the south of me and grade school with the the neighbor to the north. All told on my 20-ish house block I went to school with maybe 12 people(Not all in the same grade. Some were a couple of years older or younger.)

Which engineer, I don’t recall. Predates Elon Musk, though he is a bit of a fan of that design principle.
