    I saw an episode of QI where that rule has been all but dissolved, because there are more exceptions to the rule than the rule allows.

    Language is different from mathematics, where one counter example dismisses a rule for eternity.

    „Science“ might be an exception but linguists on primary school level ignore it – along with all the others.
