I don’t care for sushi either. Tried it, but didn’t like it.

@Newenglandah: Thanks. Mama always told me the comics didn’t have any educational value. But, I learned something today.

Is “bird” slang for human female? Why. oh tell me why Lord, did my ex bring a cell phone the first and only time I took her fishing? Why would a woman follow you yakety yakking as you try to escape her down the brook in order to outsmart the wily brookies. Seven inches of brain and muscle pitted against the mind of man with $800 of gear. Just as I’m about to make my master move against the cunning of nature, "Will we get back in time for Oprah?I have fished with women before, as long as they are dressed in a flannel shirt and a pair of Red Ball hip waders and can place a fly under on 8 inch opening at 30 yards. Unfortunately, a brown tout takes my bait and tangles me in a brier bush just because I glanced for one second to watch her bend to put that fly under a 8 inch shrub at 30 yards, Not only do I have to untangle and re-bait my line, but I realize it wasn’t all that great a show with her wearing those Red Ball hip waders. My foot hits a rock and I belly flop in April stream water just because I was thinking of her without those Red Ball hip waders. The fish have all been scared away, I’m soaking wet, and there is nothing to do but hold each other real tight till I get hot, er, warm again. Oughta be a law against women at fishing holes.

As long as it’s fresh, sushi is awesome. Newenglandah is right. Sushi is essentially fish (raw or cooked) and possibly other veggies with rice. It’s sashimi that only raw fish.

We all (including the 6 year old) love sushi and sashimi in our house. But I’ve also made a point to raise kids who are first of all not afraid to try new things, and mostly like everything. I did not want to have kids who only ate buttered pasta and chicken fingers and thought maraschino cherries were natural (true story). My husband is from Spain, and he grew up eating lots of seafood that we may not eat in the US so it’s been a part of my kids’ diet. They are probably the only kids that I know of in the US who ask for sardine sandwiches and eat anchovy pizza. We also just spent 2 1/2 weeks in Spain and ate octopus almost every day. My kids love it, but I will admit it took me a while to enjoy it. They probably prepare it differently than the Asians, but it is good if prepared well.

The only good sushi is breaded, deep fried and served with tartar sauce.
