Calvin: You know, there must be thousands of animal species, and of all of them, only humans wear clothes. Isn't that weird? I wonder why other animals don't wear clothes. Hobbes: If our naked pink butts showed, we probably would. Calvin: Our butts are just fine!

Iâd say itâs âcause of our fragile, thin, fur-less skin and so we need clothes to adapt to different climates. That and âcause weâre self conscious and feel the need to cover ourselves up.

Apparently, Calvinâs not familiar with the spider decorator crab. It attaches pieces of organisms such as sponges and seaweed to its shell, disguising itself from predators.

Watterson could get away with that âpinkâ comment back in â93, but I wouldnât try it today! Comments like that went the way of âflesh coloredâ band aids!
