So Dogpatch is supposed to be in Kentucky. I never knew that, but then I didn’t catch on to the strip until the 1960’s. I know Kentucky is considered a Southern state, but they never joined the Confederate states during the Civil War. About an equal number of men from that state fought on both sides thus Kentucky was considered a “border state”.
