Arlo: I used to think it was comical, even sad, how my folks would sit quietly for hours. Arlo: I thought it was because they were old and tired. I, on the other hand, was young and strong! I was going to conquer the world! Arlo: Now, I understand. Arlo: THEY were conquering the world!

They were old and tired because fate forced them to conquer the world and then keep Russia and China in line. It really was the last thing they wanted to do, but they did it anyway. I think they were sitting around trying to become friends with the world again, in the short periods of sanity and peace that sometime occurred…….

No, Arlo has it right. I’m an old guy, too. I don’t have all the things I thought I would, but a nice relaxing evening sitting in my backyard feels like a win to me!

I’m 65, and I can see Arlo’s philosophy. He has conquered the world’s ability to get him unnecessarily upset.
