Frazz by Jef Mallett for August 07, 2011
Transcript:
Frazz: Que pasa, Oscar? Boy: I've been watching the high school football team practice. Frazz: They've started? Boy: Just. And let me tell you, a guy can learn a few things watching them. Frazz: Like teamwork? Precision? Discipline? Boy: Like why they wear ridiculously oversized shoulder pads once the hitting starts. Frazz: Yeah, they do look a little like bobblehead dolls. Boy: I was thinking really stern amusement park mascots.

Yep. For a game.I saw a news clip of a coach the other day talking about taking “safety measures” by getting the kids out to practice early in the morning. I can’t imagine it’s very cool, even then.I like football, but not enough to risk even one kid’s life.Couldn’t they modify their practice and do the bulk of it (the exercising) indoors?

Yep, and, in Texas they do it to the bands, too. The football team has the grassy field, so the band uses the black topped parking lot.

1-2-3-4-5? That’s the stupidest combination I’ve ever heard of in my life! That’s the kinda thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

Oops! Forgot… what about the kids in the northern states? Pretty darned harsh weather to be playing outside.

Once again, I wish they’d post the entire strip—including the first panel, which shows up in my newspaper, but never her.
