From the lifeguard's chair, Knute says to Luann, "Thanks, Luann." Tiffany begins to drown and yells, "Help!" Miguel and Knute both jump in the water to get her.
I hate to say this (yes, I know this is a comic strip) but this is bad rescue technique. There’s supposed to be a long pole to reach the person in distress with. If they’re conscious, they’ll grab it and PULL. You have to be ready to prevent being pulled into the pool yourself!
