Why do I have a feeling that by the end of this week, Lila is going to wish he was dull?

Annie is always on top of everything. Nothing gets past her.

Lila’s certainly not all THAT desperate, is she? Good on her.

Oh, he sounds great to me. I’ve grown past the desire for a wild guy — they’re so not worth the drama.

Maybe I’m just shallow, but there are a lot worse things than being married to a wealthy doctor who is a little boring.

A woman has to be “desperate” to want a successful guy who is sweet and good-natured? And many women wonder why they end up with jerks who treat them like dirt? And apparently Annie is as stupid as Lila in this way. I know it’s just a comic strip, but this is such a common attitude. When I was in my 20s, I had a very good looking friend who dated a lot of women. I’ll never forget what he told me when we were talking one day about attracting women (he was far more successful than I was). Paraphrased, he said, “I don’t want to be a jerk, but seriously, when I try and be a nice guy, I get blown off and they’re not interested. But when I treat them badly, they’re all over me. So what can I do?”

I actually tried acting like him, and it was actually much more successful for awhile, but I couldn’t sustain it. I hated not acting like myself. I waited until a smarter woman came along who didn’t need the act.

I think the issue is that women like the ‘bad boy’ type because a.) it seems exciting b.) he cab become a ‘project’ that they rehabilitate. If you’re already pretty much okay—well—darn, where’s the fun and challenge in that??

I was just thinking (in hindsight) this poor dr. has done nothing but crack the books for a long time. With a dr. degree and all the internship that he went through. He really has had no time to hone his social skills. Oh an the MBA he was carrying a very heavy load. Lila just give him time. Take him places like the zoo, bumper cars, Where he can try having fun and I think you will enjoy the results.

Maybe people are attracted to mean people because they act “hard to get”?

Lila, don’t teach your daughter that nice, intelligent guys are boring. That’s how you end up with a daughter who ruins her life dating bad boys who will only get her in trouble.
