My mother no longer gets her newspaper delivered like this. She now has to get it through the mail and it doesn’t come on any day that the mail doesn’t deliver — which means no more Sunday paper nor does she get one on holidays.
(btw: She doesn’t really want to cancel her paper even though she doesn’t like the situation. She’s 75 years old and doesn’t have (nor does she want) a computer to get her news online.)

I have noticed that there are more people in the world since the early years but the number of subscriptions to newspapers has remained the same.

That’s because everyone’s reading on the computer and not paying for a paper. Actually, the number of subscriptions is lower.
