There seems to be a lot of Far Side rehashes going around these days. Flying McCoys had one yesterday.
Only female mosquitoes need a blood meal, before egg laying. A dude would eat nectar.
You can get similar results by pinching the skin so that the mosquito can’t retract. It can get pretty bloody and gross, though.
