Dark Side of the Horse by Samson for August 22, 2011
Transcript:
Sine: Hey horse...pikc a number. Then square it and add 10 times the original number. Now add 25, take the square root and then round to the nearest whole number. Now subtract your original number and you get the number of minutes you've just wasted. Horace: These days we're not allowed to throw bricks at each other, right? Sine: Right, li'l dollink.

I tried it with 27 and came out with five. Pretty accurate, Sine!

Wonder if it has a function to include (or exclude) for people who aren’t so hot at math?

I see I’m not the ONLY one who noticed that DSOH harkens back to the old Krazy Kat strip

Everybody’s answer will be 5 minutes. I got a laugh, so the time wasn’t wasted after all.
Does that make me a dollink?

Yep—x^2 + 10x + 25 is the square of x+5, which leaves 5 minutes. So, I can still waste 3 more minutes.
++++
I thought only Krazy Kat was allowed to throw cartoon bricks.

That’s right, Horace, because little kids might start doing it. They can’t throw anvils, however, so toss one of those at Sine.

Horace, throw MANY bricks at him. After all, the mortar the merrier!

It was Ignatz Mouse who threw the bricks. Krazy was on the receiving end.
