Poor Paige! Mr W.S. did like his sentences on the long side.

If she’s like some of us who stuck with it she will start discovering the puns, sexual innuendos and terrific insults to sling at her brother that can make old Bill interesting to the teenage mind.

No cliff notes allowed since they don’t cover everything in the actual plays, which can be fun to read with others to do the other parts.

Shakespeare is better heard than read.

@keaI agree, but the same can be said for about all plays.

My favourite edition of a Shakespeare play had his text on the left-hand page, and the English translation on the opposite page. The plays are so much more enjoyable when you have some idea what’s going on!

Let’s not forget what happens when Paige discovers Antony and Cleopatra…particularly why her “servant” is not allowed to bring her “the reptile”!

I remember having a read a Henry James book in AP English and there was, no kidding, one sentence that, with commas, took up an ENTIRE PAGE. Uh, why is that even necessary?

Pah. You want a really long sentence? Turn to William Faulkner.

I hate to tell you this, Destiny, but Shakespeare IS written in English!

I think what Destiny meant was: Translated or explained in modern day English.

I had Shakespeare in HS and I could not understand it. Saw in old Bill Cosby show and still did not understand it.
