Jason: Tie fighters coming in fast at eight o'clock! LAser cannons hitting my shields hard at three o'clock! The emperor's shuttle straight ahead at twelve o'clock!
Andy: Ahem.
Jason: I always forget about "Oprah" at four o'clock.
Yes, 12 O’clock is straight ahead, Jason. (redundancy?) At least you hadn’t forgotten the analog world when you played that ten years ago. Tough times back then when you only had one TV. I love to reminisce when the clocks only had a circle of numbers with hands, and we had one phone on the wall with a dial. Shucks. I came too late for the phones with a crank to buzz the operator. Life’s so tough these days with so many luxuries to sort through. Oh, oh, I started rambling …..
Well, in air combat, and presumably space combat, there is two clocks – one horizontal and one vertical. :) So, 12 o’clock could be straight ahead of you, or straight up. And yes, I loved the show Twelve O’Clock High.
@skeeter- We never had the crank ones, either, but we did share party lines. My grandparents were “rich” and could afford a private line but we shared a line with three or four other households.

Now there’s no more Oprah, but there’s Dr. Phil at 3, and Jerry Springer at 2. Both run over the MGM Movies I wanted to watch on THIS (MY Utah TV).

My mom was never into Oprah. She let me watch Pokémon at 4 when I was a kid.

In air or space combat, one must note not only the clock number, but also the relative elevation (high, low, or level).
