No Halloween dress-up, no drunken Karaoke… What DO you do for fun, Night-Gaunt?
I’ve said it before. You seem like a smart guy and we apparently agree on most social/political points, but you don’t seem to have much of a sense of “play.”
That’s a fair enough answer, Night-Gaunt, and certianly I wouldn’t force either Karaoke or Halloweening on anyone who isn’t into it.
But sometimes you come across (it may be more my perception than your intention) as disapproving of those activities in others, which is a drag.
I believe this was before your time, but there used to be a regular poster here who was a major buzz-kill in every respect (shytimes will instantly know to whom I’m referring). He was judgmental and pedantic and literal-minded and believed himself to be the final authority on every question, and he was also something of a Puritan (if you accept the definition of “Puritan” to be “someone who is desperately afraid that someone, somewhere, is having a good time.”) He was ultimately banned from the site, although he made attempts to return under different names. I admit that, at first, I thought you might be him, under another name. I no longer believe that but, and I say this with the deepest possible respect, I wish at times that you’d “lighten up.”
This site is devoted to comic strips. Yes, some of them are more “serious” in tone than others, but it’s basically about FUN (you’re one of the few posters, I believe, who is a regular presence in both the daily section and the editorial section, and I acknowledge that different “rules” are followed on the two sides of the wall). The actions of the characters herein are primarily designed for comedic effect, regardless of plausibility, or are wry and satirical (if often exaggerated) commentaries on how people are, and are rarely if ever intended to show how people SHOULD BE. “Comic” strips of that nature might be morally instructive, but they’d be really, really boring.

Donna, if you want to be REALLY scary, don’t go as Death, go as Prolonged and Painful Debilitating Illness.
