Monty by Jim Meddick for October 12, 2011
Transcript:
Monty: But where could your left hand be hiding? Robot: Anywhere... check all the drawers and closets. Monty: Say... that's odd. One of my goosedown mittens is missing... Robot: Your left goosedown mitten? Monty: Yeah... how'd you know? Robot: That's a bad sign. We may have a runaway on our hands!

Well done Lefty! Iâd like to see Bear Grills try lighting a fire with one hand.
Flogge over 13 years ago
He could go and live with âThingâ.

I love the âliving in the wild in a sleeping bagâ vibe! Shame about EB3âs typo in panel 3, thoughâŠ

Not sure exactly how a hand eats a hot dog⊠it doesnât seem right.
But of course it doesnât⊠itâs NOT rightâŠ..
which means later it can eat whateverâs left?

Idiot â maybe the mitten gave him a hand?
And 3 Steps, I canât find a typo.

A hobo, sinister hand, sleeping rough andâŠeating hotdogs? How does he/it do that? Well, Iâm sure his/its survival skills are pretty good, but Iâd have expected him/it to seek some 10W40 or the like instead of hotdogs!

JohnnyDiego, look up âThe Adams Familyâ, TV or film.
Proginoskes over 13 years ago
Look up âAddams Familyâ; youâll have better luck.

A one handed hand-entity feeding itself cannot bite the hand that feeds it(self).Funny Thing, that.

At least it isnât a case where it is the lower body and legs that are AWOL. In that case the character forced the runaway body part back by the call of nature.

Canât helploving this strip, Monty is so matter-of-fact about the most ridiculous situations.

The hand is running away because the owner abused it. Thing and Left Hand had a one-night stand, but Left Hand wasnât into Goth.

Things are definitely getting out of hand!

I think youâve all missed the twist⊠Lefty eloped with Mittens⊠for a little late night rendezvousâŠ. sheâs warm, soft⊠Iâm thinking theres gonna be some rather âwarmâ mutual attraction/action here shortlyâŠ. just sayinâ

Agree completely. Has anyone ever seen Monty get excited?

Iâll go with the down mitt being the sleeping bag theory.
I also couldnât find any typos in panel 3. Or were you referring to runaway thinking it should be run-away.

Iâll give you my left hand to help you both in this.
Ida No over 13 years ago
Nope. When the speaker says we have a "âŠ. on our hands, they mean âtheir own handsâ, and not anyone elseâs in the room. EB3 uses too many âsâsâ in âhandsââŠ
Re: the mitten â since itâs EB3âs hand, it should still be attracted to âappliancesâ. I can see it trying to pick up Montyâs handvac, but not something so dead and inert as a glove.

Thereâs another interpretation of what a hand might do with a wienerâŠ
hometownk Premium Member over 13 years ago
Naw, the nmitt is its sleeping bag. Thatâs my opinion and Iâm sticking to it.
SusanSunshine Premium Member over 13 years ago
3 steps â EB says âourâ, not âmyâ, referring to the appendages belonging to both of them.
No apostrophes or extra sâs, so itâs perfectly correct.
If he were speaking of himself alone, heâd have to say âI may have a runaway hand on my hand", as he only has one at present.
That would be very strangeâŠ.
