Life Lesson Michael…When your friend says “Wouldn’t it be cool to jump off this cliff?” you CAN say “No.”

Mike is a good kid though. He’ll feel guilty and take it back.

Later in life, Lawrence had to make a decision, to be a CEO of a major pharmaceutical company or governor of Delaware.

You know right from wrong, Michael. Don’t let your so called friends run your life.

An excellent life lesson in owning your personal choices and actions, and accepting responsibility for the consequences. “He made me do it” is always a load.

That’s very true, Michael. Not a great way to learn the lesson that you shouldn’t always do what your friends tell you, but I guess it had to happen. I try to tell my kids that the only people that they need to listen to are their parents, their teacher, and most adults. If they’re not sure about what an adult says, then to ask me. As far as what their friends say, they need to use their own brain first to decide if it’s a good idea or not.

Susan, you think that stops shoplifting? I watched a woman at a grocery store walk out with a handbag full of stuff. I told a clerk and they acted like it was no big deal. She left too fast for me to see the license plate or anything.

@SusanNewman ah yes. Those measures have definitely made shoplifting a thing of the past.

Naturally Lawrence would put all the blame on Michael. What kind of friend is he?

Also, beware of the “Three words” a “friend” can utter that can be big trouble: “I won’t tell!”

Michael, you know in your heart you did not want to actually steal the scarf..but Lawrence is trying now to make you feel guilty. and that he had nothing to do with it. Tale the scarf back to the store.

A “modern-day” Beaver Cleaver and Larry Mondello! Larry was always coming up with really bad ideas that Beaver was either too . . . naive . . . to realize it or, if he did (realize it), was too weak-willed to just . . . say . . . no!

Too bad that if parents try to set a good example in today’s time, it may turn out even worse. I think things were better with simpler times.
