Rose is Rose by Don Wimmer and Pat Brady for October 20, 2011
Transcript:
Clem: Auntie Rose, I've made a comprehensive list of acceptable candies to hand out on Halloween! Rose: How thoughtful, Clem! Clem: Concentrate on the first column...imported chocolates! Would you like to review the items one by one? Rose: That won't be necessary. Clem: She must have a photographic memory!

They’re just doing what the Occupy Wall Streeters asked of them. Mexicans are poorer than those stinking rich North Americans so they’re making the distribution of jobs more equitable.

I still think Clem will grow up to be a Republican.

yeah. you want real employer intimidation and as-close to-minimum-wage income as possible, try working in a RTW state like virginia, where they’ve gutted the union’s power.

At this rate we are going to become like a third world country. China nearly owns the US as it is.

Right. Standing up for the workers and not the corpratists is always a bad thing. Unions gave you a 40 hour work week, miniumum wage, and no child labor. Longing for the good old days are you?

It IS a shame that North American jobs are being sent to other continents. However, that lets the owners of the big companies save money without lowering prices, then take big bonuses and become even richer. The unions only want the owners to share what’s being earned with the employees who DO the work. Thanks ever so much for turning the comments to a political rant.

I can’t give you a source at the moment, but I read once that Michael Eisner, as head of Disney, had a salary, percentage of the gross, performance bonus, and stock options that totalled about a million dollars per hour. And you think that the unions are greedy for trying to help their members afford the basics of modern life?

Boy do I agree with you. Let;s start with the teachers union. That’s the one breaking the back of the middle class.

lol, I was thinking ‘how thoughtful," too! And sadly, I can’t say I don’t see where clem is coming from – you guys remember how it was, don’t you? You eat all the Snickers and Butterfingers and Twixes first, then you’re left with the less desirable chalky candy!

The last time I bought some Hershey “chocolate” was when the jumbo bars were on Halloween sale a few years ago. My cockatoo (who loved seeing all the people was still alive so I did her holiday in a BIG way- glad to say, they also had dark Hershey “chocolate”, so I bought some for myself. I broke it in squares for my snacks and as soon as I tried one, had to spit it out! Had NO taste of real chocolate (even though back then I was enjoying Dove-before they changed). My current Favorite is Green and Black’s, but I’m disappointed that Kraft now owns them. Their 70% and the Expresso are my favorites, and I still like Ghiardelli, but I tried Newman’s and found it tastes chaulky. Why do US companies buy up great products, only to mess them up?? I make much of my food from scratch but noone can do it ALL!

Euthanize Rep & Con to save America?? You’re one sick puppy! Whatever happened to civil disagreement between people? I weep for the future…….

I really don`t like commenting about politics or religion in the comics. But sometimes this sick urge comes over me…..Unions. Because of unions – the coal miner can go down into the mine knowing he will come out at the end of his shift……alive. Because of unions – your local firefighter now wears gear ….. that keeps him alive.Because of unions – things you take for granted today…… keep you safer and alive..Unions do more than get more money for their members. They push for safety measures. .There may come a time when unions aren`t needed. But that is not today. We as the human race, haven`t grown enough to do without supervison...
