Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for October 09, 2011
Transcript:
Dad: "I'm making a sandwich. Want one?" Luann: "Sure. Thanks, dad" Luann: "Hey, know what I just flashed on? When I was like, six, you made me a clown sandwich with a tomato nose and carrot-curl hair and a banana mouth. Remember that?" Luann: "I even remember thinking if I ever had kids I'd do fun stuff like that. I'll never forget that special sandwich" Luann: "How come you don't do that anymore?" Dad: "Apparently once was enough"

Amusing; but, in truth, not a very tasty-looking sandwich! BTW, Luann in panel 4 seems to me to show some hint of what she would look like as a grown-up (if ever she were allowed by Greg to grow up).

The comic strip is about teenagers, how can the lead teen age? Use your head. Otherwise we’d have a strip about middle aged people.

A few years ago a friend gave me a plate in the shape of a butterfly, so I started making “butterfly sandwiches” for my granddaughter. I would cut the sandwich diagonally into quarters for the “wings,” then put fruit down the middle for the body (usually grapes or sliced bananas). She still wants to eat from that plate whenever she comes over, and she’s almost nine years old now!
