Arlo informs her, "I asked him if he ever watches 'Caroline in the City'." Janis asks, "What did he say?" Arlo answers, "He saud he knows how cops must have felt all these years!" Janis remarks, "I don't get it."

Because all the shows about cops over the years aren’t realistic either (?).

As an authority figure, Mr. Johnson gets chatted up by fearful schmoozers-to-be about random stuff, just like cops do.
