Jimbo: What is that familiar...yet repulsive... Odor? It's not the milk- ...Not the dirty laundry... ...Not the cat! I had to check! It's coming from Pasquale's room! Oh...please don't let it be... Rose: ...Don't forget the common denominator! Jimbo: Gasp! It is! Rose: Your father has such an aversion to math...he can actually smell fractions! Pasquale: I'm the same way with broccoli!

Going around the house sniffing to find a smell? I did that day before yesterday (it was an assortment of fruit peels in the kitchen garbage (cantalope, pineapple and Banana – as well as jicama peel) – took it out! In my house it would never be math because my kids are all grown and I never think about that any more.

Alcoholics used to be figures of fun, but no more. I hope that the same will happen for mathophobes, whom I deal with all the time. They have universally been taught incorrectly.
Or to put it more simply,
Not funny.

Please don’t stoop to John Abrams’s level. First , it detracts from the strip; second, it puts you at the same level as him; third, there are people who are averse to certain subjects, mostly because of very poor teachers.

you may be free to comment, but you may not insult others. Saskfan is trying to be kind, something you obviously know nothing about.

I think Jimbo may be one of the 5% of people who suffer from dyscalculia. It can prevent them from mastering even the most basic levels of math without great difficulty. Just like with reading problems, there are strategies that can help them deal with their learning differences, though unfortunately the condition is not recognized as often as dyslexia.
