If democracy means the people choose representatives they trust whose laws they will obey under a system of constitutionally limited government with periodic opportunities to throw the bums out, then I’m all for it and everyone should get to vote.
But if democracy means naked rule by the majority that can decide who gets killed, cooked, and eaten, then it’s not such a hot idea. The problem is, people keep switching back and forth between the two ideas.
Remember, the Greeks invented democracy, then voted to execute Socrates because they didn’t like what he had to say.
