Gracie: Quick! Close the door! Nora: Before they see us! Tia Carmen: Before who sees us? Gracie: The illegal police! Tia Carmen: Kids today are so imaginative! Gracie: We're gonna need a better hideout!
Doesn’t anyone remember a Sunday strip a year or 2 ago when the Immigration agents burst into the home and dragged Tia Carmen out. There was never a follow-up on that strip. I had written a letter to the Miami Herald editor questioning the pont of that strip and my letter was published.
OK, now I think Gracie is having a nightmare. The schoolyard taunts seemed unnatural, and Teach’s behavior even more so (I thought for sure he would follow up his joke with the straight dope on the “illegal” taunting). And now that I think of it, where would Gracie and Nora get those disguises on such short notice – and where woudl kids that age get that kind of cash?
there is no such thing as an illegal person, they can do an illegal act, but they can no more be illegal than be owned by someone. i seem to remember a comic where Tia was naturalized. was that this one or am i mixing this up with another one?
I’ve never been asked for that type of ID, but if I were, I’d show them my VA ID card. It’s picture ID, issued by the Federal Government, and there’s no way an undocumented alien is going to have one.
Unfortunately, even in this time of high unemployment, undocumented aliens (non-citizens) are allowed to serve in the United States armed forces and deprive native citizens of jobs. So, yes, there is a “way an undocumented alien is going to have one”!

I have no clue why Nora is involved in this. That doesn’t make any sense at all.
