@Beviek, I love the story. I wish that I had a sibling with whom I had good stories. I had only one brother born in 1940 (I was born in 37) and he got all the good treatment that I never did- and he became the rotten adult who cheated all his clients and even our parents, but at least he died at a relatively young age and was abandoned in an obscure nursing home far from any relatives by the woman he never married (after leaving his wife). Ground lenses (even after discovery of the technique) were far more than any cooking oil or such (tho’ water may also have been used).
