The tale of avocado theft on the blog provides me with the perfect excuse to link to the following photo which I snapped in lovely Morro Bay:http://kraptastrophe.blogspot.com/2010/11/recently-spied-in-morro-bay-california.html
Julie Andrews got her big break when her stepfather introduced her to Val Parnell, whose Moss Empires controlled prominent venues in London. Andrews made her professional solo debut at the London Hippodrome singing the difficult aria âJe Suis Titaniaâ from Mignon as part of a musical revue called âStarlight Roofâ on 22 October 1947. She played the Hippodrome for one year. Andrews recalled âStarlight Roofâ saying, âThere was this wonderful American person and comedian, Wally Boag, who made balloon animals. He would say, âIs there any little girl or boy in the audience who would like one of these?â And I would rush up onstage and say, âIâd like one, please.â And then he would chat to me and Iâd tell him I sang⊠I was fortunate in that I absolutely stopped the show cold. I mean, the audience went crazy.â
@The Old Wolf â Thatâs an interesting story of Julie Andrews in her first show, and lo and behold, YouTube has a recording of her performance at 12 years old of Je Suis Titania. Listening to it, I can completely imagine the audience going crazy and being totally blown away:

Is it just me, or does the 1939 FUTURLINER PARADE OF PROGRESSlook an awful lot like the Herkimer Battle Jitney from Mystery Men?
