What caused the bubble in the first place? The Clinton era policy of the government encouraging banks to lend money to people who could not afford to pay it back. So now he proposes more of the same. And, of course, more deficits to finance this “new” plan.
Eryx, I never said that the banks and Wall Street were blameless. No one would have been trading the bad mortgages like baseball cards if they had not been created in the first place. Starting the same process all over again makes no sense — unless you believe that the government that caused the recession should be made bigger to “solve” the problem.
