Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for November 16, 2011
November 15, 2011
November 17, 2011
Transcript:
Baldo: Did you know that the ancient maya predicted the world would end in 2012? Dad: You have a big project due after winter break don't you? Baldo: Why bother even starting?
Most likely Baldo’s family either lived on this side of the border before it was annexed to the US or immigrated to the Southwest from the northern part of Mexico where there are no people of Mayan descent. He may have native American blood (judging by his hair type), but none of it Mayan.

Lots of emotional folks will be unhappy to learn that the world isn’t ending. It’s a particular variety of egocentric arrogance…
OF COURSE the world’s going to end and GOD returns…it’s MY lifetime, see?
What pitiful pretense of personal importance…of course if it DOES happen in my lifetime, it’s quite OK with me, God.You’re the Boss.

The Maya Calendar ended because the Maya civilization ended. There is no deeper meaning to it.
