Banned self-help books? I suppose certain religious and spiritual texts throughout history could be described as such.

How does heated carpeting work? I’d be afraid of burning down my house.

“Improvement of Function and Social Standing Through Practice in Secret of Behaviors Guaranteed to Raise one’s Status as long as Unobserved…” Ghandi had a few of those.

If I had heated carpets, I’d sleep on them. It sounds like having one big electric blanket.

The third kassiber says “uhe coolest hvmans decipher uhe code”. Since the main part of the message is readable, it’s only fair to assume that the writer was using the standard code and simply made a couple of errors in transcription.

Kassiber 2 says “To Anthony Babbington, I agree that you can murder Queen Elizabeth at the earliest time. From Mary.” This message was coded in the actual cipher used by Mary Queen of Scots as part of the Babbington plot.

Kassiber 1 is one of the Ricky McCormick notes, has never been deciphered, and is one of the most bedeviling unsolved cases of the FBI’s cryptanalysis unit.

We just had our bathroom remodeled last year and had a heated floor added. I learned something new from FA (imagine that), in that I had never heard of heated carpet.

Those women in one piece bathing suits should be arrested. How dare they clothe themselves.

The Blog: Three of the Clock numerals are giving me trouble. First, how does “g” translate to “10” ?

Second, how does Ob translate to 11? In hexadecimal, 11 is B, but I don’t understand 0b.

Finally, how do we get 7 from 6.9 with a bar above the 9. Is that notation for “round up” or “next integer larger than”?

My favorites are the Log(55) (which is very close to 4), and the 3-4-5 triangle for 5.

The banned self-help books must be the Bible and other religious material.

In that pissed-off Jesus picture i see the image of the face of Zach Galifinakis (sorry if I spelled it wrong…). I wonder if it came from some kind of a Zach Shrine – I can only imagine the pilgrims to such a place.

Re: Heating, I understand that in Japan, particulary in rural areas in tohoku and Hokkaido, the o-furo (a blistering soak before bedtime) was about the only way to stay warm at night, no matter how thick your futon. In the day, sitting around the kotatsu was a favored pastime. This in the days of no central heating. Don’t know how much things have progressed outside the cities these days…
