Personally I favor a plan similar to Cain’s 9-9-9 only it would be 12 -0 -0. Tax everything a flat rate of say 12% EXCEPt clothes under $75, Food, and medicine. That way people could afford to feed, clothe, and care for their families. I hear the comments that such a system is unfair to the poor as they would be taxed on almost all of their income where Warren Buffet would spend a much smaller proportion of his income but hey, that’s life. My system would allow people to save without being taxed until they spend it. Buy a Pinto, pay a little, buy a Lincoln, pay more. Such a system will never be allowed to happen due to all the special interest groups. Oh well.
They should scrap the current tax code and laws and start over. To make it really simple, they should just take a percentage of the annual gross. That would be pretty fair.
