Ripley's Believe It or Not by Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for December 19, 2011
Transcript:
The lyrics of Japan's national anthem come from a poem that is more than 1000 years old! Sweden's Sala silver mine has a hotel room located 508 feet below ground! Eye gore! 46-year-old Aldo Bianchini tore out his own eyes with his bare hands in the middle of an Oct. 2, 2011 church service in Viareggio, Italy!

I can’t see the point in what he did. Can’t say he didn’t eyeball the situation. Probably just a case of not seeing eye to eye with the congregation.

To answer the question of “Why” that a bloger posted above: Emergency responders said Bianchini was calm and lucid when they arrived at the scene and told them a “voice told him” to rip his eyes out, according to news agency ANSA.The Doctor noted that he"Thought" the man had suffered from mental illness in the past and that it would have taken super human strength to do what he did.

That must have been one really boring service to do something like that

As a Christian it truly saddens me to see finatics like that give Christianity a bad name. Jesus made it simple for us by His suffering. He suffered for us so we would not have to. I’ve also heard of people crucifying themselves on crosses thinking that honors Jesus, It does not! It is an offense to Him. Who is to blame? False preachers who claim they know what the Bible means. Too many people listen to them instead of studying His word themselves and making up their own minds what it means.

@Zyreenesque That just made me laugh out loud….The guy was trying to live by what HE thought was for him to do in church. Truth is he was guilted by some emotion which triggered some impure thooughts to which he felt better to suffer by his own hands, than the wrath by our saviour Jesus Christ, smh. His heart was in the right place, but his perspective was corrupt.

It’s hyperbole to emphasize the importance of getting rid of anything that hinders us from being obedient to God!

Yeesh. In most churches, plunking a few coins into the plate would suffice!
