I’ve always thought cloches were classy. I love seeing them in movies of the 20’s or 30’s on Turner Classic Movies.
Linguistic tidbit: “Cloche” is French for “bell” refering to the shape, from the same Latin root as English “clock” or the first part of German “Glockenspiel”.
Had to remind myself that OBH normally doesn’t take place in the present (9/11 tributes excepted). If it did, Grandpa would be either unusually young for a Zasu admirer or unusually old for Ruthie’s grandpa.

I never thought of Zasu Pitts as being particularly desirable by 1920’s-30’s male film-goers. She was the Olive Oyl of live-action cinema.

My mother used to wear a cloche (only a little before my time) as I was adult in the late 50s.
