My dog didn’t even find fetch amusing. He would retrieve the ball one, two or maybe three times, just to show he could do it. And he never began chasing until he could see the ball flying, meaning he was fooled by that never. Unlike my cat who thinks fetching is fun. She goes skittering off down the hall before I even threaten to throw her string (yes, her string. She likes it better than a ball), then acts confused when she can’t find it. She gets very excited and a bit unfocused when playing.
