How ‘bout we change the 12 Days of Christmas to the 12 MONTHS of XMAS and bring joy and happiness to everyone one weekend a month? If that doesn’t spark the economy…
Same thing happened to me. I had to hunt all over town to find a shovel. In fact, lay in your supply of ice melt by the end of January or you may not find any of that either! Last year I needed another bag in early March, and I found only a few bags of rock salt (the absolute worst thing a person can use if she has any interest in protecting plants, concrete, etc.) left at my local Lowes. Yet, we had snow right into April.
The really annoying thing is chain stores which refuse to acknowledge that varying regions have differing needs. After moving to AZ, I looked for flashlights with “black light” to hunt for scorpions (no one carries them), and the fact that clothing stores think that everyone wants wool etc starting in October (even though we have temps in the 70s most of the time until December). No wonder that I prefer to shop on line when “local” venders do not acknowledge local needs (Ace Hardware is one exception).

Talking of pumpkins; my mum used to make pumpkin scones when we lived in Australia. She never passed on her recipe.
