“Sucking in the 1980s”…To my great mortification, the guy is wearing a Detroit Pistons sweatshirt. Well, there’s one bright spot. He was wearing a mullet before mullets were cool.
Utrecht Goitre photographs illustrate goiter, but also illustrate other diseases and conditions unrelated to iodine deficiency. There’s one I would guess to be leprosy (Hansen’s disease).
ottod, I actually read it as chorizo at first so it was nice to see your comment. After yesterday’s mention of Monarch Butterflies, here’s a shot I took this year that happened to catch three stages of monarch life — chrysalis is the missing one.See next post for more — got to where the comment box wouldn’t expand any more.
If you know what you’re looking for, you can see them in the shot above, but assuming I didn’t make a typo in the HTML, clicking it should go to a large version where you can easily see all three. The butterfly itself is quite obvious. There’s also a tiny caterpillar under the leaf that goes up and to the right from the bottom center. And there’s a white egg on the unopened buds below the adult butterfly. Oh, and the plant is one of the swamp milkweeds we grow in the yard for monarchs.
Great photo, Larry. It’s fascinating that monarchs can feed at a number of different plants, but their caterpillars can eat only milkweed. The adult goes through an intricate process to make sure it’s milkweed before she lays. There is much more interesting stuff about monarchs. Google it and prepare to spend some time.
Yes, the masses have long been sedated with all things cheesy. It is actually the Dairy Board that rules the world. The Big Cheese bends your will with a warm gooey hammerand makes you smile about it as you say “Cheese”.
Is the Rifle Girl wearing special shoes or is she standing on some sort of instructional aid?And speaking of shoes, I have never seen a zebra wear red shoes before.

“Legs” might just as well be an animated version of the old cartoon, “How a John Held girl crosses her legs.” John Held, Jr.
