Dad: There! That tree won't tip over now. Just nobody make any sudden moves. Mom: Look at the time! It's 10:30 on a school night! We'll have to decorate the tree tomorrow. Alice: This happens every year! Petey: Not so loud. You'll startle the tree.

With at least two guy-wires helping to stabilize it, the Christmas tree ought to be able to withstand a sudden move or two, as long as they do not make contact…. Someone needs her beauty sleep, someone else is terribly above it all and bored.

My father had two eye-hooks on the wall and tied ropes to the tree.
No tree every escaped.

@Doctor, I can see it now — a christmas tree with flying buttrresses!
With our biggest trees, my dad used eye hooks and sire for stabilization, too. We never lost one.

By “bi” you meant “big,” right?…Alice’s “every year” makes me wonder how many Christmases she can remember at her age.

That’s a relief — I wondered (but didn’t want to know) just what a “bi-curious cat” meant! ;o)
