Rip Haywire by Dan Thompson for January 04, 2012
Transcript:
Rip: I have to bust Axe Jefferson out of prison! Cactus: Jumpin' Jehoshaphat! Even if you save your family, you're up to your neck in trouble. Rip: I don't need a recap of the obvious, rooster cogburn, I need a plan. Cactus: Let me tumble the weeds in the ol' noggin'. Whoa, trigger! I got a bull's-eye! Axe is comin' in for the trial on the midnight prison train! Snap Rip: I need to get on that train, and I'll have to impersonate you to do it! Cactus: Y'know, Rip, when we laughed at your impressions on open mic night, we were really just being nice.

I don’t remember how I knew your HUGPOUNCESZZZ were related to Hobbes, but I knew somehow. C&H was one of my favorite comics. Pity Waterson stopped drawing them.

Veridian, thanks for the timely HUGPOUNCESZZZ reminder to those new to CALVIN AND HOBBES, to say nothing of RIP HAYWIRE! :-) I think Rip may need the world’s quickest crash course (probably literally) in impersonating Mac; PYGMALIAN (or MY FAIR LADY, if you prefer), eat your heart out! Wednesday morning HUGPOUNCESZZZ to all Haywire Hooligans everywhere!

Well the Perfect Country and Western Song does mention a prison and a train but it wasn’t at midnight.“I was drunk the day my mom got of prison, And I went to pick her up in the rain,But before I could get to the station in my pick-up truck,She got runned over by the damned old train.”“You Never Even Called Me By My Name”As wriitten by Steve Goodman and performed by David Allen Coe.
