Janis: We miss you! I wish you could've stayed longer!
Gene: We do too, Mom - but we had a busy New Year's Eve!
Gene: Mary Lou said you two talked a lot.
Janis: We did.
Gene: Hope that was OK with you!
Janis: After 20 years of talking SPORTS?!

Wow! I’m ACTUALLY first! Janis was THRILLED talk to May Lou about stuff that didn’t involve sports somehow.

I’m wondering about the meaning of the 20 year interval.

When Janis says “I wish you could’ve stayed longer” she really means Mary Lou.

@jd and noican’t spell hallford- I would give anything to have my mom to have lived a long life. She was killed in a car wreck when I was 17. You are truly lucky…

I can sympathize. My mother lived to be 100 and died at 103.

Both my parents lived long enough to develop dementia. It is a heartbreaking disease. At some point, you will find yourself snapping at your loved one angrily, because they’ve asked you the same question over and over and over and over.. It makes you feel like crap. St. Peter after the third denial crap… nasty disease…Hang tough noicantspell. Try asking her about her really early memories. That doesn’t seem to go away as much. My dad couldn’t remember what happened 2 minutes ago, but he could describe in detail the dress of one of his girlfriends back in the thirties…..

I have to ask but does this strip have an alternate title in some places? I ask and pick this nit because the character’s name is JANIS, not Janice.
