Burl’s logic is irrefutable. He will buy only what he needs, with the chance of a little unexpected free stroll thrown in. Besides, maybe he’ll find some free gas somewhere, like a penny on the ground.Good morning Pat and Marg.

Morning all! Get a load of the cup on top of the car. At first I thought it was a pencil cup, but further inspection leads me to believe it comes from their bathroom! Looks like it holds a comb and at least 2 toothbrushes. Good grief! I don’t even want to speculate about why they’d have a bathroom cup on the top of the car! Gah!

That’s 8 miles to a gallon. They must really have a gas guzzler!!

    Mornin’, Crustwood denizens!

Actually Burl should be filling up the tank and then searching the car for coffee cans and baggies he can stuff with more gas..

Well, OK, I know we can’t do that — but I’m surprised it doesn’t tempt him.

But due to Julie’s thrifty re-use of panels, he’s landed in an old one where regular is $2.09 a gallon.

His 5 bucks bought him almost 2 1/2 gallons, so he’s not cutting it as close as we think on a 40-mile drive.

The problem is they only ever do 1-way arithmetic, forgetting they have to drive home, too.

All to save 2 dollars on candy, if they actually buy any….

They may just be going there to scrounge free samples.

From yesterday — sorry I didn’t get back here in time to reply…..

Yeah, Ray, it was me who wrote to Julie about the size of the panels… and she talked to the syndicate and they made them bigger.

Then they said they were doing a big site update, and the images shrunk again.

I was waiting till the virtual dust settled, thinking they’d be back to “normal” when the supposed “improvements” were all in place….. but by now it might be time for me or anybody to mention it to her again….

However, I agree with Dazz that she probably won’t be willing to explain a one-off joke.

I suppose there’s no harm in my trying, as long as we don’t bug her too often.

I think the dunce cap should be on Burl’s head. Gas prices last week were about as low as they’ve meen in a while.

    Morning, all

@Grog, they haven’t been low here (they were a little low around Christmas, but everything is constantly going up). Gas is not my problem, since I don’t drive all that much (fill up every 2nd month, basically, as I combine errands and seldom take a trip).

@Pat, I know you’re kidding- just hope no one believes you. I’d rather be known for all my whole grain recipes than my choice of drink :-D

Susan – he got 5 gallons, not 5 dollars.

at those prices, I’d be filling up.just paid 3.66 last night for premium (93 octane)

@PurpleSky, I thought that cup was some implements of the gas station for cleaning around the wipers or something. I never use any of that stuff at a gas station, so I’m not sure what they have.

People really do this. My husband only fills up when it’s “cheap” enough.

I don’t believe that it’s on top of the car.

It looks like the squeegie brushes they don’t want you to wash your car with.

I’m thinking the station put up the “Do NOT wash…” sign because of the Pennys.

Reminds me of the time, at an archery tournament, I won a gift certificate for $5 worth of gas. I couldn’t get it all in…………….. Dang, I miss the 60’s…………

@Ray, I can’t believe someone must have had that slightly risque comment of Pat’s removed. I did not find it THAT offensive, a little kidding is fun! But I just got back after breakfast and most of the news (can’t FF through the commercials right now because I caught up) and that funny comment is gone!

Good thing they have AAA. How far will 1 gallon and change get you?Wait…knowing this family they only have the AAA stickers and not really paying for a AAA membership!(sigh)

Maybe they expect to pass a cheaper station on the way back; the 5 gallons will at least get them there. I used to go especially to Fanny Mae (chocolate truffles for my parents and the dipped orange peel for myself). If I think about it too much, I may go pick 1/2 dozen oranges and make some (I think my oranges are yummier and I have 80% cocoa for dipping).
