This is what happens when we give all the kids on a sports team awards so their self-esteem won’t be hurt. It never occurs to them that they might lose.
@Grog: Sounds good. I wish they would publish the complete B.C. Many of Johnny Hart’s early strips have never been published in book form, especially from back in the pre-Grog era (no offense…..). For the complete collection, maybe they could title the books “1958 B.C.”, “1959 B.C.”, etc.
Hobbes, I do have some many of the abridged pocket books (published by Fawcett Gold Books) dating back to 1958. I started filling in my collection last summer. It’s fun to see how the characters took on the form we are so familiar with now.
But it would be nice to have a full collection with all the comics as published for Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbes. For the time being, I’ll have to settle for what I have, which is virtually everything that’s still in print and some that are no longer in print. If I don’t have it, it’s not in print or being sold used.
At first I was it Prfesser about Calvin playing with himself. But then I realized that, with Hobbes, Calvin is “home”, so it doesn’t count like it would at, say, school. So it’s still ambiguous as to which interpretation of reality is true.

If Calvin reacts this way when he loses a board game to his stuffed tiger . . . what’s going to happen when he loses in real life to real people???
