As Susie said on another occasion, if it weren’t for gravity, Calvin wouldn’t even be able to hit the ground!

Today’s strip is a profound commentary on human relationships, showing how difficult it can sometimes be to connect with another person, especially from a distance.Today’s commentary is a test of human relationships that exist as a result of connecting with people at a distance, to see how many people recognize that I’m just kidding.

For that comment, Susie deserves a snowball or iceball down her back.

Reminds me of my childhood. I couldn’t hit the side of a barn, either. I still can’t. At least, not intentionally.

@goldenroya: That’s very funny and well-written. I guess what is missing from the standard choices of smileys available is an eye-rolling version. On the other hand, perhaps that helps to facilitate more politeness. It’s amazing how well the multinational group of posters here manages to communicate using only words, without being able to use voice inflection, facial expressions, or other body language. But it does sometimes cause misunderstandings, especially when comments are highly subtle, and in particular if they involve highly subtle humor. I sometimes wish that I could watch readers’ facial expressions as they read what I post, so that I could see when I am not communicating or am accidentally creating misunderstanding.

Thanks algurka. It does become exhausting at times having a dual role, constantly running back and forth between the comic strip and this posting site. But I try hard to keep a smile on my icon’s face.:>)

I had no idea that there was so much meaning in all of this, I thought that Calvin was just a really lousy shot!

Calvin has 13 snowballs in the air at one time. That’s bad luck! Perhaps if he threw only a few snowballs at one time, he’d be more accurate!

Years ago, someone in our area bought a new shotgun, one where you load the shells, pull back the mechanism, the spent shell ejects and a new one goes in. He was bragging to his friends:“I got seven shots in at a rabbit!!”“Did you get him?”“No, but I got seven shots in at him!!”

The height of frustration! :-D

@Shikamua-moo: Yes, I was kidding. That’s why I added the smiley face. When I said to Dogsniff, “you can’t be serious,” it was supposed to be a play on words with a double meaning. The second meaning is the literal one – when you write humor, you literally can’t be serious, because then it wouldn’t be humor.Yet another case where I wish that I could watch his face when he reads it, to make sure that he catches the subtle humor and I don’t accidentally offend him.
