@exoticdoc2: Personally, I find that sound quality only diminishes slightly. The ability to hear what’s going on around me when I’m walking is worth the trade off in sound.
I bought over the counter buds to replace my ibuds. The hype is true. ibuds have a built in buffer. Now, my volume is set closer to the 1/4 mark instead of the 3/4 mark where it was set for the ibuds. Still a tad high, except in traffic.

Using just one ear bud can lead to quicker hearing loss as you tend to turn the volume up more with only one bud in instead of two.
