I have seen armadillos in Texas and Louisiana, and all of them have been dead on the side of the road. There must be live ones somewhere besides in zoos, but I’ve never seen one.
I saw an armadillo crossing the highway one night in Florida. They’re amazing animals. James Michener sure researched on them. He devoted a whold chapter on them in his novel TEXAS.

When I was having racoon problems I trapped an ’dilo one night. He was not happy. Took him down to a park and turned him loose.
